The Hobby of Reading

So I feel like I need to make an apology, because I feel like lately I have drifted away from working on any of my hobbies. Then I was thinking today, I really haven’t at all drifted away from my hobbies, I’ve simply pursued one that has nothing to do with making anything. Sometimes, in order to remember to be creative with crafting, you have to let your mind do some wondering.

I had this plan that I was going to complete a whole bunch of projects that I had started, and others that were great thoughts in my head. I had the perfect week for it, considering I didn’t have to work. The truth is I feel like I went into creative overload. I had all these ideas in my head, and honestly while they all sounded great, I just wanted a break.

The definition of hobby is this:

Hobby (Noun)  An activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure.

After seeing the precise definition of hobby it hit me. I was making the crafts but suddenly I wasn’t having the fun I used to have doing it. So I decided… I needed to focus on a different hobby. I like to call it the hobby of relaxation. One that I have never actually tried before.

That added to the hobby of reading, which I haven’t done in quite some time. I almost forgot how much I love reading.

I read four books over my vacation. Three I have to admit I know have varying reviews. Some hate them, some like them, some think they are trash, and others just don’t know what to think. Which is probably why I read them to begin with. Anyway, I read the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy. There is definitely a lot going on in those books, I will leave my comments to that…

The fourth book I read was “The Summer of Us” by Holly Chamberlin. This book was definitely on a completely different track from “Fifty Shades” and follows three women on a summer of finding each other and making new friendships. A easy, quick, and light hearted read.

So there you have it. I didn’t spend my vacation creating anything, but that’s ok it’s always important to branch out to other hobbies. Sometimes it’s important to remember hobbies can be as simple as reading a good book.

I’m interested to know what other people do in their leisure time? What hobbies do you enjoy indulging in?

I haven’t read a good book in a while. I think my nook is actually collecting dust right now. My poor nook! I am also a gamer and avid Heat fan! I am really looking forward to the new basketball season!

I know what you mean. Reading hasn’t happened in so long I was surprised I was able to sit that long to finish the books. How do you like the Nook when it is not collecting dust? I keep going back and forth and part of me just wants to go the Ipad route instead. Watching basketball on tv is def. a great hobby to have!

I love my nookie as I affectionately call her 🙂 I also have the latest iPad but I prefer to read my nookie. I find that the screen is not as glaring when reading. I had my nookie first though and I am quite attached to her which could be why I prefer to read on her as well. I really love my iPad too though. Ugghhh I am just a huge tech junkie what can I say :). Definitely looking forward to basketball season starting in a few months though. Hopefully I can find time to watch it.

Haha, well I guess I will just need to buy a nook and an ipad! Good luck with finding the time for basketball! I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find the time for anything!
